aSTEAM Village

Students and adults learning together.

Steam isn’t just for kids

The aSTEAM Village vision is to implement an expanded learning strategy in before/after-school and weekend environments using STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) curriculum concepts to benefit students and their families in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. The project’s model is designed to be easily replicated by communities around the world who we hope will adopt our model and modify it to fit their respective communities.

Participating students will be engaged in a rich learning environment and encouraged to participate in higher-level STEAM education tracks that lead to new career options and benefit from parental support.  Adult participants will gain marketable job skills to advance into better paying jobs, breaking the cycle of poverty, as well as bond with their children and support their goals and aspirations.

Programs include:

  • FIRST Robotics
  • Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP)
  • Summer Programs
  • Coding and Video Game Development
  • The National Society of Black Engineers Pre-College Initiative program
