The June meeting of KC Digital Drive’s Health Innovation Team will be devoted to a workshop on the innovations that emerged in the health care response to Covid-19. We need your input — those of you working in the field at the edge of the pandemic — to help us identify new entrepreneurs and sustainable business opportunities and support KC’s economic recovery as we begin to emerge from the pandemic. The Comeback KC Ventures program, supported by an EDA SPRINT grant, allows us to provide unique and tailored support to help these innovations grow and scale.

Mike Brown and Emma Alvarez Gibson of The Brainzooming Group will facilitate an interactive, online session to help us frame the scale and scope of Kansas City-based pandemic-related health care innovation in areas like

  • telehealth
  • health data
  • community engagement
  • manufacturing and supply chain
  • pharmaceuticals and biologics
  • social determinants of health
  • geocoding/GIS
  • and much more

Session participants will interact with other thought leaders in the space and receive an organized and detailed follow-up report of the information generated in the session. Participants will receive a pre-event survey on Friday, June 25 to help prepare for the session.

*We’ll be using a different platform for this online collaboration than our regular Zoom. Here is a brief overview on how the software works and what to expect from the facilitation: https://info.brainzooming.com/blast

The Comeback KC Ventures program, jointly managed by UMKC’s Innovation Center and KC Digital Drive, is designed to help KC’s economic recovery by supporting innovators and entrepreneurs build and grow pandemic response solutions into sustainable businesses.

###

Every month, we bring together a group of health care stakeholders to learn and share about technology and innovation projects happening in the region–and occasionally related topics from outside the Greater Kansas City area. Our stakeholders include hospitals and the health care system, city and state government officials, health IT firms and other corporate partners, startups working in health and wellness, and other civic organizations. The meetings are open, though not widely broadcast. They generally happen on the last Wednesday of the month, 8:30-10:00 am at Mid-America Regional Council (MARC).
We send out an email agenda and calendar invite to this stakeholder list, which we loosely call the Health Innovation Team. If you wish to be added to the email list, please send a note to jfitzpatrick@kcdigitaldrive.org.
