Our first presentation will be Evaluating Telehealth Services and Programs: Taking Inventory. This involves a view of the Heartland Telehealth Resource Center as one of 12 regional resource centers providing outreach, education, and technical assistance focused on building telehealth services. The HTRC focuses on Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Funded by the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), HTRC supports evaluation efforts to measure readiness to expand or enhance telehealth services using an inventory assessment along with analysis and consultation.

Our presenter will be Molly Brown, PhD, MPH, who is the Director of HTRC. Dr. Brown leads HTRC efforts in the tri-state region and works with partners to provide education, training, and technical assistance to expand and enhance telehealth services across the region. She is currently teaching an introductory telehealth graduate course at the University of Kansas Center for Health Informatics and advises on qualitative methods in telehealth research for both student and faculty projects.

In our second presentation, we will look at JustAskEvie, a lightweight virtual clinical help desk platform and service that provides real-time clinical workflow support for the electronic medical record. JustAskEvie’s goal is to reduce physician and nurse burnout by helping them become superusers. To-date, JustAskEvie has helped over 4,000 clinicians.

Many Health Innovation Team members were able to hear a bit about JustAskEvie at our recent Health Innovation Forum on clinician burnout, and now we all have the chance to go deeper with creator JD Tyler, MD. Dr. Tyler is an experienced physician with a demonstrated history of working as a hospitalist and developing in-depth knowledge of the information technology and services industry, including sales and IP development. He has worked for providers as a Chief Medical Informatics Officer, and his commercial experience includes over seven years with Cerner Corporation as Senior Physician Solution Executive.

We are looking forward to this great 2024 kickoff and wish all of you a happy, healthy, and productive new year!

###
Every month, we bring together a group of health care stakeholders to learn and share about technology and innovation projects happening in the region–and occasionally related topics from outside the Greater Kansas City area. Our stakeholders include hospitals and the health care system, city and state government officials, health IT firms and other corporate partners, startups working in health and wellness, and other civic organizations. The meetings are open, though not widely broadcast. They generally happen on the last Wednesday of the month, 8:30-10:00 am.
We send out an email agenda and calendar invite to this stakeholder list, which we loosely call the Health Innovation Team. If you wish to be added to the email list, please send a note to jfitzpatrick@kcdigitaldrive.org.
