Our first presentation will be from Included Health which supports health plans covering over 40M members and 32% of the Fortune 100. We will have an overview of a modern health plan or a payer’s perspective on healthcare and talk about Included Health’s success driving virtual primary care at scale with Wal-Mart.  We also will cover AI use cases that improve member and employee experience. It will include two critical competencies that need to be part of any AI initiative and our presenter’s prediction for where things are heading in the next 3 years.

Our presenter will be Nick Spallitta. His career has been spent in technology consulting, helping large health plans to “modernize” and make more money via business applications, data, and AI.  He enjoys working for a clinician led healthcare provider focused on providing high-quality healthcare to everyone, especially underserved communities.

Our second presentation will be from Corpusim. Corpusim has developed a biomedical graphics tool, designed as a ‘flight simulator for the human body.’ It uses advanced technologies like procedural generation, open data, and Artificial Intelligence to create an interactive, comprehensive, and extensible simulation of human biology. It can be used by practitioners, researchers, educators, and businesses alike. Each aspect of Corpusim enables users to explore, analyze, and understand the human body at any scale, contributing to a deeper understanding that could potentially pave the way to eliminating diseases.

Our presenter, Derek Scherer, is a visionary computer engineer and the Founder & Lead Developer of Corpusim. Derek’s expertise in software development and his innovative spirit have led him to develop novel projects in the field of interactive graphics, including a patented technique for Machine Learning in graphical simulations. His contributions to open projects, like Corpusim, demonstrate his commitment to propel technological advancement while championing accessibility and collaboration within the industry.

###

Every month, we bring together a group of health care stakeholders to learn and share about technology and innovation projects happening in the region–and occasionally related topics from outside the Greater Kansas City area. Our stakeholders include hospitals and the health care system, city and state government officials, health IT firms and other corporate partners, startups working in health and wellness, and other civic organizations. The meetings are open, though not widely broadcast. They generally happen on the last Wednesday of the month, 8:30-10:00 am.

We send out an email agenda and calendar invite to this stakeholder list, which we loosely call the Health Innovation Team. If you wish to be added to the email list, please send a note to jfitzpatrick@kcdigitaldrive.org.
