The advent of health information exchanges promised to usher in a new era of data sharing in health.

To what extent has that been achieved and can we now say that health information systems are interoperable? What has been done to maintain privacy and security? Is data quality improving? What is the development toward broader networks and what structures are being put in place to guide this?

It may seem like a sea of questions, but are we really moving toward a Consumer Mediated Exchange where patients, themselves, can aggregate and control the use of their health information among providers?

Come to this forum to find out. Whether you are a consumer, provider, payor, or vendor, it really matters.
