Hack KC Logo (new)Join the Code for KC Brigade to envision, plan and code a better Kansas City, June 6-7, 2015.

Who
We need coders, designers, community organizers, actvists, and makers … anyone who wants to volunteer a weekend to meet other cool people and make a better Kansas City. Hack KC is part of the National Day of Civic Hacking, a national event organized by Code for America. It fits perfectly into the Kansas City spirit: Let’s roll up our sleeves, get involved, and work together to improve our metro.

Where & What
The hackathon will be held at the UMKC School of Law at 54th and Oak St. Teams will spread across sate-of-the-art classrooms and relaxing common areas.

When

Day 1: Saturday, June 6, 10am – 8pm

Day2: Sunday, June 7, 10am – 6pm

Lunch will be served both days, with snacks, soda and coffee available throughout both days.

We Provide
Quick presentations that inspire ideas, code samples that help to bootstrap your hacking, food to keep you going, and caffeine to keep you awake, along with mentors to assist you in building faster and smarter apps while incorporating new tools.

You Bring
Your computer, skills, ideas, and enthusiasm for civic change. To get involved, follow these steps:

  • Register on Eventbrite. If you don’t have a team or idea for a project, no problem. Just register yourself, and you can join a team later. Otherwise, input team members’ names, emails and skills.
  • If you already have an idea for Hack KC, great! Submit your idea here.
  • If you already have a team formed, that’s great too! Fill out their names when you register on Eventbrite.
  • Join the Discussion. Folks are already talking about Hack KC on Slack, so once you’ve registered, we’ll send you an invite. If you don’t hear from us, contact the organizers. You can also see the latest team & project updates on Hackpad.

Whether you are a neighborhood leader, a project manager, a backend person and code in Ruby/PHP/.NET, a designer and work with Illustrator, a student, or a data geek, you are invited to attend this event. Every group needs a good balance of talent and your skills are needed!
